In July 1986, Bernice Abeyta noticed that her 7-month-old son Christopher hadn’t cried during the night as he usually did.
She went into his room and, to her horror, Christopher was nowhere to be found.
Her husband, Gil, suggested the baby was with his sisters. Abeyta ran into her daughters’ room, and after tearing apart their sheets, she realized a horrifying reality: Christopher was gone.
For the last 30 years, Abeyta has searched for her son, with no sign of him. She created a Facebook page and website called Find Christopher, hoping for someone to have news or have seen Christopher somewhere.
To date, no sign of her son has surfaced. Sadly, in 2016, Abeyta suffered another setback: She was diagnosed with cancer.
Despite her health problems, the resilient woman refuses to give up the search for Christopher, even claiming that someone out there might know something, even if they haven’t come forward.
“I’m ready to go, I’m ready to go,” she says in the video below. “But my kids aren’t ready for me to go and I don’t want them to carry on looking for their brother. I would love to have an ‘in’ to this, so I know my kids aren’t going to have to carry this.”
